cloud organ (2018)

The Cloud Organ is part musical instrument and part contemporary sculpture, exploring the relationship of sound in a space. Six suspended sculptures play a tuned set of 74 pipes through a robotically controlled pneumatic system. Created through a team-based design process, the project was developed by students of the Art and Technology Methods class in conjunction with faculty member David Bithell. The bodies of the sculptures were designed with 3D modeling programs and fabricated through a variety of tools, from woodworking to 3D printing.
